Lyon Culinary Treasures Tour Itinerary October 19 - 24, 2010 Tuesday, October 19. Arrive in Paris. Check into Hotel de la Bretonnerie in the Marais. Sally Peabody, Tour Leader, will meet the group in early evening for an orientation prior to dinner at a top Marais-area bistro. Wednesday,October 20. Transfer to morning TGV to Lyon from Gare du Lyon. Check into Hotel des Artistes. Light lunch (not included in tour). Afternoon: Introductory tour of Lyon’s top sights and quarters. Return to hotel, relax prior to dinner at a Lyon bouchon or bistro. Thursday, October 21. Following breakfast at our hotel we will visit the glorious Les Halles Paul Bocuse market, the jewel in the crown of Lyon’s many excellent food markets. Following our market visit we will join personable Chef Jean-Marc Villard, who worked for many years with Paul Bocuse, and enjoy a cooking party and lunch. Late afternoon and evening free. Friday, October 22. Following breakfast at our hotel, our driver will pick us up for an enjoyable northern Rhone valley daytrip to explore historic riverside Vienne and an afternoon tour and wine-tasting at noted winemakers Vidal Fleury or Guigal. Saturday, October 23. After breakfast we will visit one of Lyon’s riverside marché volants and will also visit the boutique of a famed artisanal chocolatier for a tasting. The afternoon will be free for shopping, visiting museums, exploring Lyon’s historic and cultural sites at will. We will gather for dinner and celebrate our time in Lyon that evening. Sunday, October 24. Free morning in Lyon. Lunch at Paul Bocuse’s Brasserie de L’Est or comparable bistro prior to taking afternoon TGV back to Paris. Tour ends.
