One of a Kind Foodie Experiences

Your Great Days in Paris is delighted to offer our clients these uniquely delicious culinary experiences in Paris.  Each is offered by a Parisienne who is utterly engaging and knowledgeable about French, simple to sumptuous. She is a food writer and journalist and our choice for private custom culinary touring in Paris.

The Art of the French Apéritif
In France, the magical "apéro" - that never-skipped pre-dinner ritual practiced from the northernmost tip of Normandy to farmhouses in the south of Corsica (or wherever the French may gather the world over) - is as integral a part of the meal as the main course. Dating as far back as the Middle Ages, the French apéritif, consisting of a litany of specific light drinks and delicate nibbles, serves to "open" the appetite (from Latin "aperire") and is a convivial way to ease into the meal before heading to table. And, as to be expected, there are Rules...  Your delightful Art of the French Apéritif evening, held in a private Parisian home, will give you the know-how to offer this elegant form of entertaining French style - with confidence – in your own home. A variety of apéritifs, from the simple to the sublime. 4 to 6 persons. Evenings only from 6 to 8 p.m.  Price per person is 60 Euros per person.

Cheese Spotting: Paris…
In France we say, Il faut toujours laisser une petite place pour le fromage!: One must always leave a little room for the cheese! With that in mind, Your Great Days in Paris is delighted to announce our latest product, an incredible half day of Cheese Spotting in The City of Light, where the focus will be on what is arguably France’s greatest contribution to gastronomy, its cheeses. Accompanied by an acclaimed food critic and writer every bite of the way, you will learn the what, where and how of French cheeses, notoriously the best in the world. A visit to markets will be combined with visits to amazing gourmet shops that feature unique accompaniments for all cheeses, and will wind down with a sit-down tasting lunch of a tempting variety of cellar-aged farmhouse cheeses accompanied by specially selected wines. All along the way, you will learn how to select, present and serve cheeses and delicious accompaniments at home.
Half day (3 hours), mornings starting at 10 a.m.  120 Euros per person. For minimum of six to ten guests. We can offer lower price points for larger groups.  25 maximum.

The Parisian Art of Dinner:   Have you ever wondered about those unwritten ‘rules’ that seem to produce such delicious French meals ?  How do Parisians think about shopping for and planning dinner?  What are the complimentary elements and must-have components ? What effortless touches lend understated elegance ? This evening in a private Parisian apartment will share all those secrets with you, while you enjoy an Apéro followed by a gourmet dinner and conversation with your charming hosts.  Final details available in January, 2011.  This evening of food and conversation will be for small groups only.
