Shop. Taste. Eat. Explore Paris! A Cultural and Culinary Adventure. May 18-22 & September 28-October 2, 2011 Daily Itinerary Wednesday, Day One: Our tour begins with a visit to the elegant President Wilson market. We will stop briefly in the Pantheon Boudique of the Musée Guimet to see the superb collection of Chinese and Japanese Buddahs and visit the lovely secluded Japanese garden. Then we walk across the Seine to the 7th arrondissement to visit the rue Cler market street. Lunch will be at Le Café Constant or a similar bistro. Later in the afternoon guests may relax near the Eiffel Tower, visit the Tower, or the nearby Rodin Museum or Military Museum in Invalides (on their own). We will enjoy an early evening one-hour Seine Cruise that includes a Champagne tasting. Dinner on your own. Thursday, Day Two: Today we head to the lovely residential 17th arrondissement to explore the verdant Parc Monceau, the excellent rue de Levis market street (with a visit to an exceptional patisserie), the village-like Batignolles quarter and finally, the excellent rue des Martyrs market street in the 9th that is notable for food and small fashion shops. We will cap off the day with a chocolate tasting at Natier, just off the rue des Martyrs. Friday, Day Three: An unforgettable day of shopping for French Chic with Barbara, your expert private guide who is uncannily skilled at bringing her clients to their best in Paris. After consultation with our guests, Barbara and Sally will lay out an itinerary that will likely cover at least two Paris quarters and will include lunch. Saturday, Day Four: Today, we visit the covered Aligre market, the surrounding flea market and then, the fine artisans along the nearby Viaduct des Arts and Promenade Plantee. The Viaduct des Arts is a ten block stretch of exceptional artisans housed in ateliers under the arches of the lovely elevated green-way, the Promenade Plantee. Gilders, porcelain painters, restorers of antique textiles, jewelry designers and copper pot makers…. They are all here and more. Lunch will be a very delicious feast of regional French cheese, artisanal charcuterie and perfectly paired French wines at Fil O Fromage in the 13th. After lunch we will take a stroll in the Parc Bercy gardens and through the shops of Bercy Village. Sunday, Day Five: Today we visit the dynamic Richard Lenoir Sunday market, one of the largest in Paris. After a ramble through the market Sally will take the group to walk along the charming Canal St. Martin to discover this emerging, ‘hip’ quarter which is a car free zone on Sundays. We will walk back to the Marais via the rue de Bretagne market street and explore the hip streets of the upper Marais as well. Later in the afternoon guests may visit the Carnavalet, Cognac Jay, or other small museums in the Marais on their own or attend a concert in one of the Marais’ churches. Lunch will be in the Marais or Canal St. Martin quarter. Questions? sally@yourgreatdaysinparis.com or 781 391 6183 |
